On August 20, 2005 the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper sponsored a paddle trip on the Chattahoochee River from GA 115 to Duncan Bridge as part of a program to introduce the soon-to-exist Buck Shoals State Park.  I paddled my Kruger Sea Wind and learned a little humility in the process.  I joined many of the paddlers proceeding down part of Buck Shoals upside down!  During this adventure, I discovered 1) that it is difficult to breathe upside down in a canoe and 2) that there are rocks on the bottom of the river.  No serious harm was done and I learned several important lessons.  One has to do with rocks and helmets (which I wasn't wearing).

With help from Richard Grove, I captured photos of as many paddlers as I could until my batteries ran out.  Unfortunately, I didn't think to bring batteries.  Quarter-size (40-108 KB) versions of the pictures are available by clicking on the thumbnails below.  To download an image, left-click the thumbnail, then right-click the image that comes up and save to your computer.  If you have a burning desire to have the original, larger copy of any image (1.8-2.4 MB), send me an email and tell me which one it is in the thumbnails below (row and column).  None of these have been cropped or enhanced, though all could use some work.  Some are badly blurred or otherwise of poor quality, for which I apologize.  It's frustrating to see a picture of yourself doing something neat, only to find it is no good.  I put them up anyway, in case you would like to use them, poor though they are, to establish bragging rights.
