“HOW TO CHANGE A MAJOR 101”
Dear Exited Learning Support Student:
Congratulations on successfully passing the (exit) COMPASS test and the 0099 class! It is now time to change your academic major from Learning Support to the major you are interested in pursuing. If you have exited or exempted Learning Support, you are ready to change/declare your major; here is the procedure you need to follow:
After you have made the change in BANNER, your request will be sent to the Departmental Secretary of the academic major you are interested in pursuing. He/she will determine whether or not to approve your request and who to assign as your new advisor. If for some reason you are not approved for the change, he/she will let you know. Otherwise, the change will then be sent to the Registrar’s Office and your change will be made.
MOST IMPORTANT:
Once you have changed
academic majors from Learning Support to your new choice, it will be up to you
to seek out your new advisor, make appointments (and keep them) and be
responsible for registering for classes during advisement and pre-registration.

contacting their advisees—you will have to take the lead role.
If you are changing
your major from Learning Support to Open Option (Undecided) or if you are
changing your major to Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Middle
Grades Education, you will be assigned to the Academic Advisement Center as
“pre-education”. Ms. Jan Burt will be regularly contacting you via mail and the
Advisement Center Email account, notifying
you of pre-advisement. Please read any and all mail (electronic and
“snail”) you receive from the
