ABOUT ME

I was born Katherine (Kathy) Amanda Francisico in Orlando, Florida and lived there all through high school.  I then traveled to Tallahassee to become a 'nole at Florida State University.   College was great.  I loved it.  The first year was the most challenging because I was making that transition to greater independence and personal accountability.  Once I learned how to balance my academics with my social life, I was on my way!  I graduated from FSU with a bachelor’s degree in math education.  After I graduated, I moved from what was then the “little city” of  Orlando to the “big city”  of Atlanta where I taught mathematics at Southwest DeKalb High School.   Atlanta has been my home ever since.   I received my master’s degree from Georgia Tech in Information and Computer Science and have enjoyed over twenty years working as an IT Professional in Atlanta.  I began my IT career as a programmer/analyst.  Later I became a technical sales rep working with large organizations to plan and implement both departmental and enterprise wide computing solutions in the Unix environment.  Most of my IT career has been spent working with hardware manufacturers, like Sun Microsystems.   My husband, Fred, and I have lived in Dawson County since 2001.  Fred is a Corporate Vice President for a software development firm in Alpharetta, Ga.  We have three daughters.  Jackie is a small business owner in Woodstock, Georgia.  Sarah just graduated from the University of Georgia majoring in graphic design.  She is now working for a graphic design firm in Augusta, Ga. Brittany is a junior at Dawson County High School.

I really enjoy being a part of North Georgia College & State University.  It is a great placed to be.
