Dr.
Harrison Davis is an Associate Professor of Counseling in the Community Counseling master's program at North
Georgia College & State University. In addition to his role
as a Counselor Educator and Clinical Supervisor at North Georgia,
Dr. Davis owns a private counseling practice in Atlanta. He
has a passion for teaching, training, and helping others to
overcome psychological, vocational, and social barriers to
happiness. As a product of the Atlanta public school system,
Dr. Davis understands the importance education. His formal
education includes four degrees in psychology/counseling.
Most recently, Dr. Davis graduated from the University of Arkansas (UA)
with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education.
While pursuing his doctoral degree, he worked as a
counselor-in-residence at UA.
In that position, he provided counseling and crisis
intervention services for students living on campus.
Prior to that time, he worked at University of West
Georgia as a staff counselor in the Student Development and
Counseling Center.
Other clinical experiences include substance abuse and
family counseling.
Dr. Davis is licensed as a professional counselor in the
state of Georgia and certified by the National Board of Certified
Counselors.
He is also authorized to provide clinical supervision for
post-masters counselors and interns in Georgia.

Dr. Davis has a background in individual counseling, crisis intervention
& assessment, and Black American identity development
issues. He has conducted research on factors contributing to
Anxiety and Depression among Black and White college students,
clinical supervision of counselors-in-training, and the
psychological well-being of Black Americans.
Dr. Davis is actively involved in the American Counseling
Association (ACA) and the American College Counseling Association
(ACCA). He
serves on the executive council of ACCA, as well as the editorial
boards for the Journal of College Counseling and the
Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory, and
Research.
He is also a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors
Association of Georgia and American Mental Health Counselors Association.
Dr. Davis describes himself as genuine and committed to his
clients and students.
His goal is to help those who struggle with doing their
best.
